> Why the shell for Drop 04 was cut in a refrigerated unit outside Prato in February.
Cloth behaves differently in the cold. Wool relaxes, then tightens; a bonded shell holds its shape only when the room is as cold as the city it will be worn in. So in February the cutting moved to a refrigerated unit twenty minutes outside Prato.
Three cutters worked in coats for eleven days. The pattern was laid once, checked twice, and cut in a single pass. Nothing was re-cut. Offcuts were bagged by weight and sent back to the mill the same week.
“If the coat has to survive a Milan winter, it should be cut in one.”

The result is the shell you see in Drop 04: sealed flat, cut close to the grain, and stamped with its edition number before it left the room.
